  • Photos upload to Journey Cloud Sync shows a cloud icon

Hi there - I know it's in beta but I want to bring out something that is driving me crazy. I used the Journey Cloud Sync on Android (Samsung S21 Ultra to be precise). Whenever I attach a photo to an entry and upload it, I noticed that it works sometimes and not others. After doing some testing, I noticed that the images with smaller file sizes are more likely to work the anything bigger than 2MB (which let's face it, is most photos).

What happens is that the photos are attached, and saved. When I do a sync, and come back to the entry, the photos are "broken" - ie instead of showing the photos, it gives a cloud icon. On the Web App side, it shows a file icon. Is there something going on with this?

Oh - I also want to add that when I create the entry using the Google Drive option, and upload the photos, they are absolutely fine.

John changed the title to Photos upload to Journey Cloud Sync shows a cloud icon .

@evopoint Hi, thank you for your feedback! The cloud icon doesn't indicate a broken media file. It shows that the photos/videos are currently processing in our backend. If you are using end-to-end encrypted drive, it may take slightly longer e.g. 3-5s more. You can simply press the refresh button in the web app to reload the thumbnail of the media file. For the Android app, the thumbnail of the media file will appear automatically when ready. Only the media files that you have browsed are cached to reduce storage used by Journey in your Android device. On the other hand, Google Drive processes the media files differently from Journey Cloud Sync. E.g. storing all images, uncompressed video/audio in your Android device, no end-to-end encryption and no processing of video for online streaming.
